Lamborghini Aventador Roadster To Wear Targa Roof: Report

The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Image: Lamborghini

If you were hoping the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster would pack a slick, power-retractable hardtop like Ferrari’s 458 Italia, it appears you’re out of luck. If reports from Italy’s Quattroroute are correct, the topless Aventador will come to market with a removable targa roof, similar to that used by Bugatti on the Veyron Grand Sport.

The Aventador Roadster’s top panels will be made from carbon fiber or carbon composite, and will be split in the middle for easy removal or deployment. That may make them small enough to carry on board the Aventador, eliminating the need to decide on topless motoring before leaving the garage (like the Veyron Grand Sport, whose roof can’t be stored on board the car).

As for the “why,” the answer is relatively simple: adding any kind of folding top, whether manual or powered, would add more weight and would require redesign of the Aventador’s intricate engine cover. Not only is such a redesign cost-prohibitive, but it also would added significantly to the car’s development time.

Assuming, of course, that the car actually exists. Lamborghini is neither confirming nor denying a topless Aventador, which means we’ll have to wait until the international auto show schedule resumes this fall before any official announcements are made.

Official Lamborghini Urus SUV Images Leak Onto The Web

From all of the previous circulating rumors of Lamborghini birthing a new SUV, it was only a matter of time that we would get a glimpse at official images from the Italian Bull maker. After-all, the internet waits for no one.

What is to be called the Urus, is Lamborghini’s newest vehicle added to the lineup and very first SUV. For obvious reasons, the Lamborghini Urus will compete head-to-head with the likings of the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, BMW X5M/X6M, Bentley’s upcoming SUV and any other premium brand sport-utes to hit the market.

Powering the new Lamborghini Urus SUV will be the company’s well-endowed 5.2-liter V10 engine producing 584 horsepower for the riding-high Bull. Additional details are expected to be released when Lamborghini officially unveils the Urus at the Beijing Motor Show. For now, enjoy the leaked official images of the Lamborghini Urus SUV below. Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore Defines Good Taste

When Italian supercar builders release a special edition version of their product, “tasteful” isn’t usually the first word that comes to my mind. Most have garish paint schemes and vinyl decals that look like they were razor cut by a baboon. Wearing a blindfold. Worse, most have giant wings and more carbon fiber than an F1 starting grid. That’s why Lamborghini’s Gallardo Tricolore, built to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Italian reunification, is so stunning. If anything, it’s even more subdued than a regular Gallardo, with the single distinguishing feature being the Italian flag stripe that runs down the car and through the interior. It’s definitely a case of “less is more” when it comes to style. Read more…

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Image Leaked From Magazine

One of the most anticipated exotics to wear a raging bull on its hood found its way into Evo Magazine Croatia. Images of a rolling-naked chassis of the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 were already revealed today but I think we would all rather see the new Lambo dressed all up in its natural sheet metal.

The new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is essentially the replacement for the outgoing Murcielago. The Aventador LP700-4 will be powered by a 6.5-liter V12 producing 690 horsepower and 509 foot-pounds of torque. The new Aventador should reach the 60mph mark in 2.9 seconds and top out at a speed of 217mph. Read more…

Video: Jay Leno Welcomes Lamborghini Reventon Into His Garage

Some of the most intriguing vehicles for automotive enthusiasts comes with a Bull emblem on the hood and 12 cylinders in the rear. One ‘Bull’ that eclipses the rest, first introduced in 2006, is the Lamborghini Reventon with its in-your-face styling inspired by a jet fighter. The Lamborghini Reventon features a 6.5-liter V12 with 641 horsepower and a price tag well over $1 million. One of the latest guys to get his hands on one of these bad boys is Jay Leno.

Jay Leno already has several Lamborghinis in his collection including the infamous Miura and Countach. Jay invites Andrew Ramanowski, President of the Lamborghini Club America, to talk about the Reventon in the ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’ video below. Best of all, Jay gets to take the Reventon for a spin. Enjoy the video below!

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 SV to Debut in 2010 Geneva Motor Show

Rumors are spreading that Lambo will debut a new version of the LP560-4 next year in Geneva. The Lamborghini LP570-4 Super Veloce would have stronger performance figures and some different design features.

While a 10-horsepower boost may not seem worthy of all the hype on its own, a large drop in weight would justify quite a bit of attention. It is important to note that the Gallardo Superleggera, also introduced in Geneva, featured a similar power increase and weighed 100 kilograms (220.5 lbs) less than the Gallardo.

Expected to show on the new model are new front and rear spoilers, re-tuned suspension, and carbon ceramic brakes.

Wheelsandmore Lamborghini Gallardo LP620

Here’s another variation on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4. This one, called the YarroW, is from German tuner Wheelsandmore.

First up, power on this Lambo is amped up to 620 hp and 580 lb-ft of torque (785 Nm). Wheelsandmore achieves this increase by means of ECU tampering, a carbon airbox and a stainless steel exhaust system with valve control.

The YarroW also comes with a beefed-up brake system to match those extra horses. 8-piston calipers are fitted at the front and 6-piston ones for the rear wheels, with 14.96 and 14.17-inch discs at front and back, respectively.

20-inch wheels are also part of the tuning kit, wrapped in 235/30/20 Dunlop Sport Maxx tires at the front (for the 8.5 x 20″ rims) and 305/25/20 at the back (11.5 x 20″). The 3-piece forged rims are lightweight and come in various color and surface configurations.
