E&#957&#1077r&#1091 2012 Chevrolet Equinox comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 hp and 172 pound-feet of torque. E&#957&#1077r&#1091 Equinox regardless of engine comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive; &#1072&#406&#406-wheel drive is optional. I&#1495 Edmunds testing, a front-drive Equinox went from zero to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds, which is an average number for this segment. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 20/29/23 with &#1072&#406&#406-wheel drive. T&#1211&#1077&#1109&#1077 estimates are very impressive; &#1211&#959w&#1077&#957&#1077r, in real-world testing we found that it falls short of t&#1211&#1077m, especially on the highway.

Video: Chevrolet Teases New 2012 Malibu Exterior Design

I remember my brother’s old 1968 Chevy Malibu which was, well, an awesome looking car that simply needed more power from its deceivingly big 5.0-liter V8 engine. I know, he should have opted for a Chevelle SS. Since then, the Malibu has become a watered down mid-sized-4-door slush box that would otherwise be completely overlooked until you end up at the rental car counter. The upcoming 2012 Chevrolet Malibu will be taking a totally different direction, one that hopes to bring some life back into the name from the looks of the exterior design teaser video below. We expect the new 2012 Malibu will be something along the lines of a bigger and more refined Chevy Cruze, something that is universally styled for several world markets. Read more…

Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback Debut at 2011 Geneva Auto Show

Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback
General Motors will introduce the Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback production model at the upcoming Geneva Auto Salon Show 2011, but has no concrete plans to bring to this version to the U.S. market.

“There are no plans to come to the U.S.,” spokesman Chevrolet Lesley Hettinger said in a telephone conversation with Inside Line on Tuesday. “It’s a maybe. The beauty of a global vehicle that we can make adjustments quickly. So that’s not to say that it ever not come here. ”

The Cruze is a virtual clone of the Chevrolet Cruze Concept, which debuted last September at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

The new model is essential to the success of the compact Chevy’s in Europe, where hatch accounted for two thirds of sales. Since the spring of 2009 Chevrolet Cruze sold 500,000 vehicles worldwide. The Cruze launched in the U.S. in September last year with the Cruze Eco-model on the market in December. Read more…

First Test: 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

Oh come, ye armchair engineers. Tell us that removing a stressed member as important as the roof is bad. Regale us with stories of chassis flex and cowl shake.

We will listen. Then we will politely disagree and point to the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible as evidence. Counterintuitive though it may be to the number crunchers, cutting off the roof has made the Camaro a better car.

Of course, Chevrolet didn’t simply Sawzall-off the roof and kick the Camaro to the showroom. If you’ll recall, the original Camaro Convertible Concept debuted four years ago, a year to the day after the original Camaro Concept. A topless car was always in the cards, but then, so was bankruptcy.

After multiple delays, sun worshipers will finally be able to buy Chevrolet Camaro Convertibles very soon. And what a happy crowd it’ll be, because the convertible takes everything good about the Camaro and amplifies it. It looks better, sounds better, and is a better car to drive, all of which is directly attributable to the new hat.

General Motors unveils Chevrolet Aveo show car ahead of Paris Motor Show

General Motors is continuing its small-car onslaught by showing off the next-generation Chevrolet Aveo at this year’s Paris Motor Show. According to the company, the show car on display will be the spitting image of the actual production version, though we can expect a few small changes to show up as dictated by each market. GM says that the new Aveo borrows heavily from the Spark, complete with plenty of “hot hatch” styling. It’s true that the forward-leaning shoulder line and aggressive headlights help give the Aveo plenty of menace for a vehicle this size, and judging from the powertrain lineup, there’s a chance that this little sucker might scoot along with the best of them.

GM says that it will be offering a range of engines in the Aveo globally, from an anemic 70 horsepower, 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine to a variety of diesel mills and a 115 horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline four. We aren’t engineers by a long shot, but 115 horsepower in a tiny tin box like the Aveo is bound to be at least somewhat entertaining.

Paris Motor Show 2010 Preview: GM unveils Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for Europe

General Motors will be expanding Chevrolet of Europe’s lineup by adding a five-door Chevrolet Cruze, and while we won’t get our first look at this new hatchback for a few weeks, GM has decided to preview it early with a few pictures on the web. Sure to be one of the major draws at the Paris Motor Show in just a few weeks, the liftback ought to compete nicely with the 2012 Ford Focus five-door, but don’t expect GM to offer the more functional Cruze in the United States. “Americans don’t like hatchbacks,” remember?
