Necessary Factors To Consider When Deciding On An Auto Transport Company
One of the most valuable assets you own is probably your car. For many people a car not only holds monitory value, it is a necessity for transportation to and from work as well as for errands that must be ran. When you are moving your car across the country, you want to be sure that it will be well cared for. That means when choosing an auto transport carrier you will need to be very diligent so that your vehicle arrives at the new destination without any damage. The following tips will help you to choose a safe and reliable carrier.
You should choose an auto shipping company with a good reputation. The Internet has made it easy to check out the reputation of such companies. Enter the company name into one of the better search engines and see what people have to say. Customers that are unsatisfied with a company are quick to report to review sites today. With larger companies, you will always find one or two dissatisfied customers, so read the reviews carefully to see how the issue was resolved. In addition, if the majority or reviews that you find for a company are negative, then you should consider using another company.
Inquire with the company to be sure that they have the necessary licenses to move your vehicle. They should have a federal license as well as the necessary insurance and bond requirements. If the carrier is legitimate, they should have no problem in showing you this paperwork.
Ask the company about the insurance that they carry to cover any damage your car may receive during transportation. Also ask about any limitations or exclusions that may be included. There are some risks in transporting a car that may not be covered. Flying rocks can cause damage to the vehicle, and it is unlikely that the insurance of the auto transport company will pay for dings to the paint or even broken glass.
Most companies offer different options for shipping your vehicle. Not every company will offer every option, so check to see what is available.
With the open shipping method your vehicle is simply loaded in an open trailer. While less expensive, cars are more susceptible to damage from the elements. If it is storm season, there is the possibility of hail damage. Flying gravel can also cause problems.
Enclosed shipping puts your vehicle in an enclosed trailer and it is unlikely that flying objects will cause damage to the vehicle. If you have a very new vehicle, a specialty vehicle or an antique automobile, the extra expense may be worth the extra cost.
Economy service is the least expensive way to transport a vehicle. This method of shipping is on a space available method and it can cause significant delays in your vehicle arriving at your new home. Some companies say that this method of transportation can take up to three weeks to get your vehicle delivered. If you are not in a hurry to get the vehicle at the new home, this can save some money.
Full service is the quickest way to get you vehicle to its new destination and usually includes door to door service.

How to Get Discounts for Cheaper Indianapolis Auto Insurance
Indiana’s department of Insurance in Indianapolis does not set car insurance rates. With this, most people thought this could lead to overpricing by some insurance companies, thus charging more than what is appropriate. Ironically, this is something every motorist should be happy about. Why? The competition among insurance companies results to nothing but various benefits; it promotes lower insurance rates for the citizens of Indianapolis.
A recent study conducted by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners has concluded that the cost of auto insurance in Indiana is lower than most states in the US. If you’re a resident of Indiana, you are lucky to pay less for your car insurance. And that’s not all; did you know that there are still more ways to further lower your insurance rate?
Insurance companies offer its policyholder discounts if they have more than one policy. One example is getting the auto insurance from the same agency that handles either insurances in life, health (medical), or home. This makes you eligible for a discount on the second policy. Most insurance companies will offer discounts for those who decide to purchase other type of insurance from them. It wouldn’t hurt to know if you qualify in one or more of these.
Having more than one vehicle insured under one auto insurance policy is another great opportunity for insurance discounts. You could be eligible for multi-car discount. If the other car is often parked in the garage, this too could potentially be a candidate to additional discount. Also, some insurance companies will offer discounts for low mileage (however, this needs to be validated annually).
A document (or form) that certifies your vehicle is seldom used is needed for signature every time the car insurance is renewed. For drivers who are often on the road, don’t be disheartened; instead, try to look out for other discounts where you may qualify. Read more…

So, for all those who have a query “is it legal to drive without auto insurance?” the answer is a big NO. It is 100% compulsory to have sufficient car insurance. Not only it is illegal to drive without one, but is also unsafe for your own life and all the passengers traveling in it.

The foremost important thing is that if your car is insured then you can call up the insurer for any kind of financial help, as and when required. Being insured helps you get through all the procedures to make sure your automobile gets repaired and all your bills are paid properly. 2011 Chicago Auto Show: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Revealed
Image: © GM Corp.
After months of speculation, the new uber-Camaro was revealed today at the Chicago Auto Show. To the surprise of many, the car didn’t carry the expected Z/28 nameplate; instead, Chevy opted to label the car the Camaro ZL1. Don’t feel bad if you don’t know the significance of that name, since it was used only once, as an internal order code for an aluminum-block racing engine option on the 1969 Camaro. Only 69 were ever built with the ZL1 order code, and their performance and value is the stuff of legend. What better way to honor the name than by building the most powerful and most capable Camaro in Chevrolet’s history?
Image: © GM Corp.
As rumored, the ZL1 gets powered by the LSA, 6.2 liter supercharged V8 from the Cadillac CTS-V. The ZL1 loses a few ponies in the translation, since the CTS-V is a Cadillac and the Camaro is a Chevy. If you want specifics, the ZL1 gets rated at 550 horsepower versus the Caddy’s 556, while torque drops to 550 ft lb from the CTS-V’s 551. It’s academic, really, and I suspect that both cars would put out nearly identical numbers on a dyno. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to find that the ZL1 has a similar zero to sixty time (3.9 seconds for the Caddy), but Chevy isn’t publishing those numbers just yet. Read more…

Auto transmission jamming in high gear on BMW 525 1991?
Twice in past 6 months ‘trans program’ comes up on screen and my car does not want to go in 1st or 2nd it will drive but has to pull off in 3rd (possibly 4th). prior to this happening i get a very heavy clunking sound and jerking on gear change for about 30 miles, then it just gets stuck in high gears (it does still change gear though from 5th to 4th to 3rd and back up) i have had the gear iol levels checked, it is ok and the oil is not sludgy looking. before i go to the expense of having the gearbox stripped and /or new gearbox does anyone have any ideas what is causing this.
- there are electronic switches within the gearbox. when these go a^se over the gearbox drops into a get-you-home mode. they are relatively inexpensive, but the cost to strip your box, missus, and rebuild it makes it not worth doing.
Get a second hand box, but consider selling yours back to him, or even weigh it in for scrap to offset your costs
- I had same problem on mine (1991 bmw 525) several years ago when the car was around 180K miles. Took it to my usual repair garage… they tried their best to fix it replacing several solenoids. Problem would come back, sometimes when driving it back from garage !
Then I took it to dealer who said they checked it all out but did not know how to fix it after several days, they said all they found was a miswired cable ! I was not charged but since they fixed the miswired cable I have not had the problem again for the past 3 years, I now have 225K miles.
- Tranny is sensing low pressure. Be it sensors or wiring or a dirty filter and is entering safe mode.
There is no simple answer, only more questions. Use the kiss method of trouble shooting and keep it simple stupid. Start simple and cheap and work your way up until the cost of parts becomes more than simple.

2012 Acura TL to debut at Chicago Auto Show
Acura has announced that it will debut the newly refreshed 2012 TL at the Chicago Auto Show next month. Details are slim as of this writing, but the automaker says that the 2012 model “further enhances its position in the segment with aggressive, yet refined styling and performance.”
In its current form, the TL has been praised for its high-quality and tech-friendly interior, not to mention the relatively impressive driving dynamics of the SH-AWD 6MT model. However, the biggest deal-breaker for the current TL has been its styling, which has garnered a whole slew of negative praise – especially the angular front fascia. We’ll have the full details on the 2012 TL closer to its official debut on February 9, so stay tuned.
