One Company’s Brilliant Idea

Image: Mercedes-Benz
Let’s face it: limousines are entirely too played out, and you’re not likely to hire one for an interstate drive. That’s where Brilliant Transportation comes into the picture, since they’re offering ultra-luxury transportation cross town, cross state or cross region, as their client’s needs dictate. The concept is sheer genius; turn business or family travel into quality time by recreating the luxury of first class air or train travel. Brilliant Vans are based on Mercedes’ Sprinter platform, and each comes equipped with hardwood floors, flat panel TVs, oversized leather chairs, a refrigerator, cabinets and even folding desks. Want to head from NYC to Boston on your schedule, not Amtrak’s? Want to get work done when you travel from Washington D.C to New York? Brilliant Vans may be the perfect solution for corporate executives who understand that time is indeed the equivalent of money.
Richard Fertig, Brilliant Transportation’s founder, had this to say about his company, started just 13 months ago:
“We’re introducing a new mode of travel we call “Private Motoring¨, that often replaces air and rail transport. Although a number of our clients didn’t realize at first that Mercedes-Benz makes large vans, they know and love Mercedes, which makes our chauffeur-driven Brilliant Vans a natural extension of the way they choose to travel. Our New York-based Sprinters offer a distinct environment for business trips to Boston and DC, social events in Manhattan such as Lincoln Center or family weekends to the Hamptons and the Vermont ski country. With a similar range of use, our just-opened L.A. operation makes frequent trips to Las Vegas, Santa Barbara and San Diego.” Read more…

New Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Promotional Videos

I have never been a die-hard fan of Mercedes-Benz and I will possibly regret that statement when the readers of AutomotiveAddicts.com get a hold of the comment section below and tear me a new one. Maybe some of the readers will agree with me that over the past few years Benz vehicles seemed a bit… soft. Of course they have some serious horsepower numbers especially out of the AMG performance division but I would take a BMW any day over a Benz. Nevertheless, Benz aims to please everyone which is why they have introduced a new C-Class coupe. To top the C-Class line of cars, they push the envelope a bit far by shocking the automotive world with a C-Class AMG vehicle, the C63 AMG.
Sure, it was bound to happen; Benz had to stuff that big V8 under the bonnet of their newest little-bitty creation with two doors. Now the BMW M3 (E92) has someone to play with right next door and she is rather hot if you ask me. She is so hot that she can sprint to 62mph in 4.5 seconds. Now all we have to do is get those two in bed, I mean on track… together to see who really puts out. Check out the new Benz C63 AMG promotional videos below and tell us how you like the looks and sound of her!

2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Review
Like its C63 AMG Sedan sibling, the C63 AMG Coupe misses out on the latest twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 and instead relies on the tried and tested naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 found in a variety of the Affalterbach tuner’s models, including the SLS AMG supercar. Peak output comes in at 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, though an optional AMG Development Package lifts output to a heady 481 horsepower.
With 451 horses on tap, the powerful coupe will accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and easily reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Opt for the AMG Development Package and you’re looking at a 4.3 second time for the 0-60 benchmark and a 174 mph electronically controlled top speed.

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster

The only bit of info we have on the latest Mercedes Roadster is that the prototype images are ready, and the car is deep down in production phases. The concept art of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster reveals something new, something totally different.
For a change, the Mercedes guys removed the fixed to and those gullwing doors. Actually, the doors have dug deeper into the flanks. They’re not remotely controlled, so you’re gonna have to reach in and avail the conventional sedan door mechanism.

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster unwrapped in Stuttgart
We were in Suttgart, Germany, this past weekend as Mercedes-Benz took the wraps of its all-new 2012 SLK Roadster. While completely redesigned, there’s no mistaking the two-seater for anything but a Mercedes-Benz – and that’s exactly what the designers had in mind, says the automaker. Gone is the SLR McLaren-inspired front hood, replaced with an aluminum unit capped by a more traditional upright radiator grille. Reappearing after an absence are the side grilles on the front quarter panels, reminiscent of those on the Benz roadsters in the 1950s (and SLS AMG, more recently). Slightly longer and wider than its predecessor, it’s an attractive package. Plus, it cheats the wind with a slippery drag coefficient of just 0.30 (the outgoing model had a 0.32 Cd).

Mercedes-Benz releases C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition for Canada
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is an absolutely stunning piece of machinery. We recently had a chance to steer a C63 fitted with the P31 Development Package around the greater Detroit area, and it now looks like our friends to the north are getting a special edition of Merc’s AMG atom bomb all for themselves.
Dubbed the Affalterbach Edition (it’s named after the German town in which AMG’s skunkworks reside), this C63 wears a unique Magno Allanite Grey paint that is accented with red brake calipers, 19-inch black alloy wheels, carbon fiber mirror shells and a subtle lip spoiler. No tweaks have been made to the C63′s powertrain, but the Affalterbach edition comes standard with the normally optional AMG Performance Package, meaning there’s 481 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque on tap. Sprints to 62 miles per hour will be accomplished in a tidy 4.4 seconds.
