Lexus LFA LCD Tachometer 0-160mph Acceleration

Ever wondered what the instrument display (cluster) of a new $375,000 Lexus LFA looks like in action from launch all the way to 160mph? Wait no more. Check out the video below from the French magazine ‘Motorsport Magazine’ of Lexus’ Supercar doing what it does best.
The LCD dashboard instrument display is unique to the Lexus LFA, which changes appearance in respect to the selected mode. The display goes as far as to make the increments between the RPM numbers appear larger in certain modes with a white background color indicating Sport Mode. The tachometer readout even glows red as it approaches redline or the optimal shift point. The Lexus LFA is truly a remarkable vehicle and this video only captures a glimpse of is capabilities. Enjoy!

Paris Hilton Gets A Lexus LFA For Her Birthday

In the you-can’t-make-this-stuff-up department comes word that Paris Hilton just got a Lexus LFA for her 30th birthday. The car was a gift from her latest chew toy boyfriend, Las Vegas nightclub owner Cy Waits, and gets added to Hilton’s stable of cars she’ll never possibly appreciate, like her pink Bentley Continental GT or her blue Bentley ragtop. I’m sure Paris has all the skills necessary to stay out of trouble in a 560 horsepower, 202 mile per hour supercar; after all, she hasn’t had an accident (or a drug charge) in months!
Her birthday gift is in yellow (for now), so let’s hope she doesn’t get this sprayed Mary-Kay-pink to match her Bentley. I suspect there may be trouble in paradise, since Waits apparently didn’t love her enough to spring for a Nürburgring Edition LFA, which is $70,000 pricier and even more exclusive. Lexus is building 450 LFAs, but only 50 ‘Ring editions, and “1 of 50″ says I love you a whole lot more than “1 of 450″. Maybe she’ll get a ‘Ring edition for Christmas, assuming she doesn’t bin the birthday LFA first. I say it’s just a question of “when”, not “if”.

Lexus To Show LFA Nürburgring Edition In Geneva
After announcing the car in May of 2010, Lexus will finally take the wraps off the LFA Nürburgring Edition at next months Geneva Motor Show. A more aggressive, track-centric version of Lexus’ supercar, the Nürburgring Edition brings you even more of a good thing. The 4.8 liter V10 gets ten more horsepower, which raises output to 562 horsepower. Shift times are reduced by 50 milliseconds, the suspension is tightened up even further and an enhanced aerodynamic package (with a less-than-subtle rear wing) is added to improve downforce and high speed stability. Only ten percent of the LFA’s production will be Nürburgring Edition variants, which means that only fifty will be built. Ever.

If you can afford the $375,000 price of admission for an LFA, the additional $70,000 needed for the Nürburgring Edition will probably seem like Taschengeld to you, but let’s just ponder that for a second. Spending as much money as a new Z06 Corvette gets you no improvement in 0 to 60 times and perhaps a marginal improvement in lap times. Sure, the aerodynamic package will help at triple digit speeds, but unless you’ve got your own personal road course to practice on, how much time will you really spend driving north of 100 miles per hour? The LFA isn’t my cup of meat, and the Nürburgring Edition is more cup, same meat. If I had that kind of money to play around with, I’d opt for a McLaren MP4-12C, and spend the $216,000 I saved driving as many of the world’s great road courses as I could. Your mileage may vary.

Despite tough year, Toyota finishes 2010 with best-selling car, brand and luxury marque titles
By most accounts, Toyota didn’t have the rosiest of years in 2010. Hounded by safety recalls, lawsuits and government investigations, the automaker saw its once spotless reputation grow more sullied by the month. Still, it’s important to note that none of these issues stopped the Japanese automaker from snagging some impressive U.S. sales titles, including the best-selling car (Camry), brand (Toyota) and luxury marque (Lexus) for 2010, not including fleet sales.
Revised 2011 Lexus IS revealed
Lexus has revealed the 2011 IS, ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show. While it looks virtually identical to the 2010 IS, the model features restyled wheels, modified taillights, and LED daytime running lights (on cars equipped with high-intensity discharge headlights).
Car Review: 2010 Lexus HS 250h
Lexus likes to say that it pursues perfection. Toyota’s luxury brand has been playing the hybrid game for a while now with converted gas-powered models like the LS, GS and RX hybrids, and few would argue that these models represent the zenith of what a luxury hybrid can be. For that, Lexus finally decided to build a dedicated hybrid model from the ground up, and the result is the HS 250h.
Being that the brand’s parent company builds the Prius, the industry benchmark for hybrids in terms of both fuel efficiency and popularity, Lexus has, on the one hand, a much deeper well of hybrid expertise from which to draw than its competition. On the other hand, it has the toughest act to follow in the third-generation Prius. In the minds of many, a true Lexus hybrid should be everything Toyota’s magic bean is and more – it should be the perfect Prius.

Ring Leader: Lexus announces return to Nürburgring 24 with new LFA racer
Toyota has announced its racing activities for 2010. And while Formula One has already been removed from the program, the Japanese automaker has plenty going on in other disciplines, including the domestic Super GT series, Formula Nippon, NASCAR and…what’s that? The Nürburgring 24 Hours.
As you may recall, Toyota’s Lexus division took LFA prototypes to the ‘Ring in both 2008 and 2009 for the round-the-clock race to help drum up some excitement and give the prototypes some competition testing. Since then, the LFA has gone from concept car to race car to production car and is now going back to endurance racer for this year’s event.
Review: 2010 Lexus LS460 Sport could’a been a contenda
With Lexus having carefully cultivated a reputation for isolating drivers from all of the undignified sensations normally associated with driving, it might seem surprising to find a Sport model in the LS lineup. Sure, Lexus offers the M3-chasing IS F, as well as the outrageous LFA supercar, but an LS460 Sport? Come on… even sport-synonymous BMW doesn’t offer an M version of its full-size 7 Series luxobarge.
BMW does offer, however, an Alpina B7, as well as a BMW M5. There’s also the Cadillac CTS-V, Audi S6 and S8, and a whole undercard of Mercedes-Benz AMG cars out there that prove there is a market for sports-tuned large sedans like this 2010 Lexus LS460 Sport. You certainly can’t begrudge Lexus for trying to steal a slice of that more stiffly-sprung, high-test pie – but is it just promoters’ hype or can this LS Sport really float like a butterfly and sting like a bee?

Geneva Motor Show 2010 Preview:Lexus drops the curtain on CT 200h
Earlier this week, we got a sneak peek at the new Lexus CT 200h from a brochure that somehow leaked out onto the Interwebs. Now, Lexus has seen fit to pull the curtain back all the way on its new premium hybrid hatchback ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week. A worldwide launch is promised later this year, but we can’t confirm whether that includes the United States.
From what we can tell, the car retains some of Lexus’s L-finesse design philosophy as seen on the LF-Ch concept that debuted in Frankfurt last year, except in a somewhat more production-ready (read: toned-down) state. Inside, Lexus employs an asymmetrical dash design that’s split into what Lexus refers to as an upper Display Zone that includes an eight-inch LCD multi-display screen and a lower Operation Zone, which includes the shift lever and other controls such as Lexus’s Remote Touch multi-function controller.

Lexus LFA buyers will be hand-picked by Lexus
When will the stateside ignominy end when it comes to the Lexus LFA? Japanese buyers have already spoken for that country’s entire allotment. Even though Continental European buyers must travel to England to procure the car, the details are all in place. Notice that in the previous two sentences we used the word “buyers.” Cutthroat American capitalists will only be able to lease the creased-like-origami coupe that costs $375,000 straight up, and they’ll need to be hand-picked by Lexus for the honor.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “People selected to purchase the car will be based on factors such as the other cars they own, where they live, and how often and where they drive.” This is Lexus’ halo car, and they want that halo to shine so bright you’re blinded by the light. Said the manager of Lexus college, “We want it to be seen on the right roads, in front of the right restaurants and not just being enjoyed by one individual in their private garage.”
