2012 Acura TL

2012 Acura TL

Acura’s best selling car, the TL, has suffered its share of scorn as the latest model year 2009 model has arrived. The 2012 Acura TL Sedan sets the major topics, with a new design and a six-speed automatic.

We found the 2012 Acura TL has excellent performance and sumptuous comfort. Front wheel drive is standard, but the Acura TL SH-AWD has all-weather four-wheel drive. Packaged in edgy, controversial style, the fresh look of the 2012 Acura TL will appeal to many confusing and many others.

The 2012 Acura TL offers two engine packages: The TL is equipped with an HP-280 3.5-liter V6 that generates 254 pounds-feet of torque at 5000 rpm and front-wheel drive. The TL SH-AWD gets a 305-hp 3.7-liter V6 that produces 273 pounds / ft of torque at 5000 rpm for better performance. Read more…

Prototype Models From Acura

The Acura ZDX four door sports coupe is the newest addition. The prototype of this car truly debuted in 2009 on the New York Auto Show in April of that year. The ZDX has new design options which embrace a panoramic glass roof, hidden rear door handles and a daring new look in fender flares. The type of this car will make you look twice before we even discuss the performance and dealing with capabilities.

The ZDX was designed with a three,7 litre V6 engine and matched with a 6 speed automatic transmission. Designed to ship 300 horsepower, this SOHC engine is all aluminium. The transmission comes with paddle shifters and whereas it offers incredible acceleration it is going to also be good on fuel efficiency. The ZDX comes outfitted with the biggest customary wheels of any Acura.

The ZDX’s interior sports hand stitching on the dash, panels, and middle console. The ZDX provides a warm and alluring vibe with its plush cabin. The ZDX can seat 5 adults comfortably, with out compromising cargo space.

The new Acura ZDX is poised to be the posh vehicle that blurs the line between SUVs and Sedans.

The Mugen NSX RR from Acura is a superb instance of an aesthetically appealing concept vehicle. This concept was developed with Honda’s motorsports associate Mugen and has since been taken out of any future production runs. It was first seen at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show. Read more…

Arrival: 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD

For 2009, Acura made drastic changes inside and out to its fourth-generation Acura TL. With edgy, albeit polarizing exterior styling and a sporty, tech-laden interior, the new TL shows no signs of getting lost in the entry-luxury crowd. Long Acura’s best-selling model, the TL is now available in either front- or all-wheel-drive configuration, with the former offering a 3.5-liter, 280-horse V-6, the latter a bigger 3.7-liter rated at 305 ponies. Both are backed with a five-speed automatic; a slick six-speed manual will be available with the 3.7 for the 2010 model year.

Per Acura’s usual approach, the TL comes in base trim or with a $3730 Technology Package that adds a 440-watt ELS audio system, navigation with traffic rerouting and Zagat restaurant reviews, Bluetooth, and a decklid spoiler with backup camera. For another grand, the all-wheel-drive TL, dubbed SH-AWD for its “Super Handling All-Wheel Drive,” can be had with high-performance summer tireson 19-inch alloys (versus 18s).

New York Auto Show 2009: Acura ZDX aimed squarely at BMW X6

After a few weeks of teasing, Acura has finally revealed the ZDX, its new four-door, luxury crossover “coupe” that is clearly aimed at the similarly proportioned BMW X6. The ZDX wears the now familiar shield grille and sharp styling that has spread across the entire Acura lineup. To further emphasize the crossover’s coupiness, Acura designers have hid the rear door handles in the base of the C-pillar. The ZDX rides tall on 20-inch, 9-spoke wheels and also glints under the lights thanks to a number of chrome trim pieces including a pair of shiny dual exhausts out back. Inside you’ll find typical Acura luxury with high quality materials arranged in a high-tech package that includes a new multi-view rear camera system with both a wide angle and top down view. The production ZDX will be V6-powered and kept in line by Acura’s superb Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.

Feel free to poke around the ZDX in our high-res gallery below. It’s the best expression yet of Acura’s new design language, which has taken some getting used to on its current lineup of sedans. This segment-busting crossover should arrive in dealerships by the fall of 2009, according to Acura.

Review: 2010 Acura MDX

“Any press is good press,” so the saying goes. With that in mind, the refreshed 2010 Acura MDX, now bearing the automaker’s corporate “beak,” should finally be garnering some much-needed attention. And the Acura MDX deserves the spotlight. Nearing its tenth year of production, the seven-passenger crossover has flown under the radar, always relegated to yesterday’s news as the segment rapidly expanded and welcomed interesting new competitors. Seemingly tired of watching the competition steal the conversation, Acura threw on the controversial grille and significantly updated the MDX for 2010.

New York 2010: 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon is lovable, but somewhat underwhelming

There’s quite a phenomenon at this year’s New York Auto Show. Two – yes, two wagons have debuted. The first was the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon (our current pick for Best In Show, we might add), and the second is from Acura. The U.S.-market Acura TSX is the Honda Accord overseas, and the wagon variant that other markets will finally come to our shores to fill out the TSX lineup.

From all appearances, the only differences between the Euro Accord wagon and the TSX Sport Wagon are the addition of Acura badges and a slightly more upscale interior. Powering the Sport Wagon is the same 2.4-liter inline-four found in the sedan, mated exclusively to a five-speed automatic transmission. Official fuel economy numbers haven’t been finalized just yet, but Acura claims that the wagon will achieve around 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

Sadly, the TSX wagon is only available with front-wheel drive, as Acura says that it has no plans to offer its Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system in the TSX range. A pity, since we’re big fans of this grips-at-all-paws setup. This could prove to be a sticking point for some consumers, however, especially since Acura’s claimed competitive set (BMW 3 Series and Audi A4, namely) both offer all-wheel drive.

2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT is a mouthful, not a handful

When the redesigned Acura TL debuted in late 2008, it represented a substantial transformation over previous iterations. The third-generation model retained the transverse V6 of its two predecessors, but for the first time included an all-wheel-drive option. But while the torque-vectoring Super Handling-All Wheel Drive is an appreciated addition when you’re putting out over 300 horsepower, performance oriented drivers were appropriately miffed that both the TL Type-S and a manual transmission were no longer available.

Thankfully, shortly after the 2009 TL went on sale, Acura announced plans to add a manual gearbox back to the lineup. Unfortunately, it would take an entire year before it hit the market. Now it’s here, and we’re ready to find out if the Acura TL SH-AWD six-speed can fill the Type-S-sized hole in our hearts.

2010 Acura TSX V-6 Debuts at Chicago Auto Show 2010

Many enthusiasts felt that Acura’s nimble, cutting-edge TSX would be a serious contender in the sport-luxury market, if only it had enough power and a couple of extra cylinders to compete with the likes of the Audi A4, Lexus IS350 and Infiniti G. It appears that Acura has come to the same conclusion, as it unveiled the latest addition to the lineup, the TSX V6, at the Chicago Auto Show today.

The update is a simple one: Acura has shoehorned a 3.5 liter V6 engine under the hood. The 280-horse powerplant features a dual-stage induction system and VTEC valve control, of course. Acura’s sequential SportShift transmission handles shifting duties, and includes paddle shifters, Grade Logic Control and Shift Hold Control for spirited driving.
Exclusive suspension tuning is also part of the mix; the TSX V6 gets unique 18-inch split five-spoke wheels and tires and a tauter suspension, to handle the additional power. Double wishbones are used up front, with five-link construction at the rear.
